Some cigars lead with strength. United Cigars Abuelo leads with a story. Abuelo means “grandfather” in Spanish, and the family theme runs throughout the line, with each vitola carrying the name of a different relative. It gives the collection a personal quality that feels fitting for a cigar built around tradition.

For the tobacco, United Cigars turned to Julio Eiroa and his farms in Honduras. A Honduran Habano wrapper covers a core of Honduran Corojo binder and filler, putting the character of Honduran tobacco front and center. Despite that Corojo heavy recipe, Abuelo isn't trying to overpower the palate. It settles comfortably into the medium range, favoring nuance over brute strength.

The family theme continues through the four available vitolas: Padre (6 x 52), Gran Abuelo (6.5 x 60), Nieto (5 x 50), and Nieta (5.25 x 46). From the slimmer Nieta to the substantial Gran Abuelo, each size gives smokers a different way to experience the same Honduran blend.

Abuelo is a family themed cigar in more ways than one, pairing a name rooted in heritage with tobacco grown by one of Honduras' most recognized cigar families. The result is an approachable Honduran smoke with plenty of character and the construction to back it up.
